With Wagner, Zemlinsky, Berg and Marx, Fabien Gabel takes the Tonkünstler-Orchester and two outstanding singers on an opulent journey through the highs and lows of romantic feelings.
Two voices explore the musical path from Richard Wagner's Tristan and Isolde to the composers of Viennese modernism. With Tristan, Wagner created an eternal monument to the unquenchable longing for loving union. Kate Lindsey and Nikola Hillebrand sing works by Zemlinsky and Berg that grow out of this romantic longing. A special rarity is Joseph Marx's Symphonische Nachtmusik, which dissolves Wagner's Tristan into floating, late-romantic summer sounds.
Nikola Hillebrand is celebrated for her radiant voice and nuanced interpretation and is already one of the most sought-after sopranos of her generation. Kate Lindsey, internationally acclaimed mezzo-soprano, is known for her versatility in the operatic repertoire. As a concert and lieder singer, she works with the most renowned orchestras and is a regular guest at international festivals. With a fine sense of tonal colour and a broad stylistic palette, Fabien Gabel delights audiences and critics alike. In 2025, he will take up the position of Principal Conductor of the Tonkünstler-Orchester Niederösterreich.
