Hessisches Staatsballett
Imre & Marne van Opstal . David Raymond & Tiffany Tregarthen
Creativity as a human strength: the Hessisches Staatsballett brings together its two successful pieces I'm afraid to forget your smile and Force Majeure for the first time in a double bill.
Dance With I'm afraid to forget your smile, Imre & Marne van Opstal present a haunting new creation for the Hessisches Staatsballett. Six dancers, choral music and Tom Visser's impressive stage merge to create a moving image of loss, devotion and human strength. In Force Majeure, David Raymond & Tiffany Tregarthen explore the idea of a higher power that shapes life – and ask whether this power does not also lie within ourselves. Creativity and destruction as opposites of human existence are at the center of this melancholy dance piece with tragicomic elements.
After successful careers as dancers with the Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT) and the Batsheva Dance Company, the siblings Imre & Marne van Opstal are conquering dance stages around the world with their expressive and imaginative choreographies. The choreographer duo David Raymond & Tiffany Tregarthen and their company Out Innerspace Dance Theatre have made their mark on the international dance scene through their long-standing collaboration with Crystal Pite. After working for the NDT and Ballet BC, they are now setting new accents with Force Majeure.
