A dance that flickers on the horizon like a mirage: Damien Jalet creates a meditative choreography for the Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève in search of the essence of humanity.

Dance With Mirage, the acclaimed choreographer creates a work that blurs reality and illusion. In collaboration with Japanese artist Kohei Nawa, a stage is created that invites the dancers to enjoy an atmospheric experience and accompanies them through a world full of contrasts: They appear like travellers in an undulating, changeable universe that unfolds between barren desert and tropical vibrancy. In the interplay of dance and visual art, body and material encounter each other in constant change, inspired by mythologies, natural science and the art of sudden change, as found in the Japanese theatre form Kabuki.

Damien Jalet, an associate artist of the Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève since 2022, presents Mirage, his first world premiere with the company. Known for his visually stunning, contemporary style, he is currently also attracting international attention as the choreographer of the award-winning musical film Emilia Pérez.
