In Atlas Song, the impressive choreography of Imre & Marne van Opstal merges with the mystical music of Anna von Hausswolff. Together they create a symbiosis of the arts that brings dance and live music to life in a fascinating way.
Dance/live music Imre & Marne van Opstal, the shooting stars of the European dance scene, weave a choreography around Anna von Hausswolff's darkly magical compositions, which explore the tension between life and lifelessness. Like the Titan Atlas, who carries the world on his shoulders, the piece tells of the burden of life. Universal and at the same time deeply personal, Atlas Song becomes a reflection on how we can find our place in the world without losing ourselves. Between dramatic rock show and engaging ritual, an extraordinary journey of dance and sound is created.
As a creative duo, Imre & Marne van Opstal are now internationally successful choreographers after dance careers with the Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT) and the Batsheva Dance Company. Their works are multi-layered, surreal and characterized by an eclectic dance language. Anna von Hausswolff is known for her uncompromising music, in which her soulful voice, accompanied by the pipe organ, floats in unusual musical landscapes.
