Festspielhaus Reporters
Writing about dance
In this community you can improve your (critical) writing in a relaxed atmosphere and receive constructive feedback from professional arts journalists. The arts journalists Veronika Krenn and Sara Schausberger will join the Festspielhaus reporters to attend around seven performances per season (at a staff price of EUR 15 per performance). Afterwards the professionals provide support with improving phrasing and polishing the reviews in one-to-one sessions. The reviews are then published regularly on www.festspielhaus.at. Selected reviews can also be read on the highly respected dance portal www.tanz.at.

Festspielhaus-Reporterin zu sein schärft den Blick und geht über das reine Genießen hinaus. Es löst innere Prozesse aus. Ich möchte begreifen, was ich gesehen habe. Ich möchte spüren, worum es geht. Erst danach kann ich das Erlebte in aktuelle Kontexte einordnen und darüber schreiben. Doch der Zauber bleibt. Er vertieft sich. Ich möchte diese Art der Auseinandersetzung mit Kunst nicht mehr missen.

Sara Schausberger lives and works as a theatre journalist in Vienna, writing mainly for the weekly newspaper Falter. She studied German Literature and co-founded the society Literaturbagage, which is a book club for children and young people. Her first children’s book, "Muskel, Furz und Superkraft" (Muscles, Farts and Superpowers), was published in 2022.
Veronika Krenn works in communicaitons, press and marketing. She has spent many years as a freelance journalist for print and online, specialising in dance, culture and theatre.
