The classic as a contemporary dance piece!
Marcos Morau is a revealer – of emotions and states of being. He staged this dark, abstract version of Romeo + Juliet with the Opera Ballet Vlaanderen. Right at the beginning, the choreographer diagnoses the state of the world in a single image: a crowd of people dressed in black push towards the light. (...) This Morau-esque overture sets the tone for the production: uncomfortable, tragic, enigmatic, almost mythical.
